5.3 Was gezählt wird

Dein Name, alles, was du eingibst, dein Spielstand, Geräte- oder Werbe-ID, Standort, Uhrzeit, Kontakte.

5.6 Was der Server speichert

5.8 Rechtsgrundlage

Deine Einwilligung (Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO); für das Speichern und Auslesen der Zähler auf deinem Gerät § 25 Abs. 1 TDDDG (Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz).

5.9 Speicherdauer

8. Hosting und Empfänger

  • Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr.

Schreib uns dafür an info@mrg-studio.de.

Die Spielstatistik enthält nichts, was dich erkennbar macht.

Vorherige Fassung: 24. März 2025.

Privacy Policy – Last Transmission

As of: 2 October 2026

Diese Datenschutzerklärung gibt es auch auf Deutsch:

In short

  • No accounts, no sign-up, no ads, no tracking, no analytics or advertising services from other companies.
  • Your saved game, the name you use in the game and your settings stay on your device.
  • From version 1.17 you can choose to allow anonymous gameplay statistics. Without your “Yes”, nothing is counted and nothing is sent. You can turn them off at any time.
  • The game works fully without internet.
  • Tips are paid through Apple. We never see payment details.

This policy applies to all versions of the iOS app “Last Transmission” (iPhone and iPad). The anonymous gameplay statistics (section 5) only exist from version 1.17. Earlier versions send no gameplay data.

2. What the app stores on your device

So that you can keep playing, the app stores on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Saved game: the radio conversation with Lucia, your replies, the day, the in-game values (water, food, infection) and – if you enter one – the name Lucia calls you. Plus a checkpoint for “Try day X again”.
  • Achievements and endings reached.
  • Settings: language, music and Morse sounds, text speed, text size, contrast, color, haptics, animations, Fast Mode, the daily reminder (on/off and time) and whether the app has already asked about notifications.
  • Your choice about the statistics (yes or no) and – only if you agreed – the counts that haven't been sent yet (section 5).

This data does not leave your device, and we have no access to it. The only exception is the anonymous statistics counts, if you agree to them. Storing it is necessary for the game to work (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG). A new game overwrites the saved game; deleting the app removes everything. If you use an iCloud or computer backup of your device, this data is backed up there too. We have no access to that either.

3. Notifications

If you allow it, the app reminds you with a notification when Lucia is back and – if turned on – once a day at the time you choose. The app schedules these notifications itself on your device (local notifications). No push service, no server and no device identifier are involved. You can change this in iOS under Settings → Notifications → Last Transmission and in the game's settings.

4. Tips (in-app purchases)

In Settings and after an ending you can choose to “Buy me a coffee”. This is a purchase through Apple's App Store (StoreKit) and unlocks nothing. Apple handles payment and billing under its own responsibility; the purchase is made with Apple. We receive no payment details, no name and no Apple ID. The app only gets confirmation from Apple that the purchase went through, says thank you, and neither stores nor sends anything about it. In App Store Connect we only see aggregated sales figures. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.

5. Anonymous gameplay statistics (optional, from version 1.17)

5.1 Why

We'd like to see how far people play, where players stop, which replies they choose and which endings they reach. That shows us where the story gets stuck or a wait is too long, so we can improve the game. We only ever see totals, never individual players.

5.2 Only with your consent

The app asks during a wait, on the card “Message from the studio” (“Yes, count” or “No, thanks”), never while Lucia is typing. If you don't answer, it comes back at most twice, no sooner than 12 hours later; once you've answered, never again. You can also turn the statistics on or off at any time under Settings → Privacy → Anonymous statistics. The default is off. Until you agree, nothing is counted, stored or sent.

Before you answer, the app only remembers on your device how often and when the question appeared and whether there have been three waits yet, so it doesn't ask too often. These values are never sent and are deleted once you answer (Section 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG).

5.3 What is counted

  • which parts of the story and which days you reach for the first time – and once, when you agree, how far you've already got in your current game and which replies you picked along the way,
  • which reply you pick at each point,
  • which endings you reach, what Lucia dies of, and whether you use “Try day X again”,
  • how often Lucia's waits begin and roughly how long they are, roughly how long it takes you to come back afterwards, and whether via a notification,
  • how often the app is opened (roughly after what break) and a game is started, and whether Fast Mode is on,
  • that you agreed, where (on the card or in Settings) and on which day of the game.

Only the identifiers of story points and replies are counted (for example “lucia_relief”), no text, and times only in rough steps. Each daily package also contains the date (no time of day), the app version, the game language (German or English), a random package number that is newly generated for every package and only makes duplicate sends detectable, and the flag “first package from this device on this day”. From that we can see how many devices took part on a given day.

5.4 What is not counted

Your name, anything you type, your saved game, device or advertising ID, location, time of day, contacts. There is no identifier that links your data across several days or with other data.

5.5 How and when it is sent

The counts collect on your device, bundled per day (512 KB at most in total). The game never waits for this and works exactly the same without internet. When you're online, the app sends the counts in the background, encrypted (HTTPS), to our server – for example when you leave the app or shortly after you open it. In iOS Low Data Mode nothing is sent. Counts that couldn't be sent within 30 days are deleted by the app. Test and review builds (TestFlight, Apple's App Review) never send anything.

5.6 What the server stores

The server (at Hetzner in Germany, section 8) immediately adds each package to totals per date, app version and language. The individual package is not stored. The package number is kept for 7 days, only to detect duplicate sends. Rejected packages (for example damaged ones) are only counted per day and reason, without their content. The evaluation only shows numbers once at least five devices have taken part on a day.

5.7 Your IP address

When sending, your device transmits its IP address, as with any internet connection. We don't store it: for the statistics address our web server writes neither access nor error logs, and the statistics service writes no IP address to its database or its log. To protect against overload (at most 20 sends per minute per sender), the service derives a non-reversible short value from the IP address (an HMAC with a key that is newly generated every day and kept only in memory) and keeps it in memory for about two minutes at most. The legal basis for this is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Only if the connection fails before the request can be assigned to the statistics (for example an encryption error) can the IP address end up in the web server's general error log (section 7, deleted after 14 days).

5.8 Legal basis

Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR); for storing and reading the counts on your device, Section 25(1) TDDDG (German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act).

5.9 Retention

  • On your device: until sent, 30 days at most.
  • Totals on the server: 2 years, then the server deletes them automatically.
  • Package numbers: 7 days. Counts of rejected packages: 90 days.

5.10 Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future: turn off Settings → Privacy → Anonymous statistics in the app. Counting and sending stop immediately, and counts on your device that haven't been sent yet are deleted. Deleting the app also removes everything on the device. “Reset settings” does not change your choice. Totals already sent cannot be linked to any person, so we cannot look them up, provide information about them or delete them individually (Art. 11 GDPR). Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before it.

5.11 No tracking

The statistics are not tracking as defined by Apple. We don't pass data on to third parties, don't combine it with data from other apps or websites, and use no analytics or advertising services from other companies.

6. Apple: App Store, downloads, crash reports

You download the app from Apple's App Store; Apple processes data for this under its own responsibility. If you have turned on “Share With App Developers” in iOS under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple provides us with crash reports and aggregated usage figures that aren't linked to you. We only use them to fix bugs. Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.

7. Website, links from the app and contact

The links “Privacy Policy”, “Contact & Feedback” and “Legal Notice” in the app open our website mrg-studio.de in your browser. For every visit our web server logs: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the status code, the amount of data transferred, the previously visited page (referrer) and your browser's identifier. This serves secure operation and troubleshooting (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted automatically after 14 days. If you choose a language (DE/EN) on the website, your browser remembers that choice locally; it is not sent to us.

If you write to us via the contact form or by email, we process your email address, the subject and your message in order to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The message is stored on our server and forwarded to our mailbox at the email provider IONOS. We delete it once your request has been dealt with, unless legal retention obligations apply.

8. Hosting and recipients

  • Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany – runs the server for the website and the statistics in a data center in Germany, as a processor under Art. 28 GDPR.
  • IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany – email mailbox (only if you write to us), as a processor.
  • Apple – App Store, purchases and crash reports, under its own responsibility (sections 4 and 6).

There are no other recipients. We ourselves do not transfer any data to countries outside the EU.

9. Data security

The statistics are only transmitted encrypted (HTTPS) and are stored on the server only as totals. The evaluation is password-protected and only reachable via HTTPS.

10. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR); for the statistics directly in the app (section 5.10). Just write to info@mrg-studio.de. Please note: we don't have the data on your device, and we cannot link the statistics totals that were sent to any person.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in the EU member state where you live or work.

11. Children

The app is not specifically aimed at children; please note the age rating in the App Store. The gameplay statistics contain nothing that identifies you. If you're under 16, please ask your parents before agreeing to the statistics.

12. Changes

We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The version linked in the app and in the App Store applies. Previous version: 24 March 2025.
